I've been going to football matches in Lens since I was 16, had a season ticket for 10 years! That's where my love for football began. Incredible atmosphere in a good league. Experienced many highs and lows. From the Champions League to relegation and almost bankruptcy. Back in the top division for a few years now and even made it to the Champions League last season. Brings back some emotions from the past!

My sports journalism 'career' started as a club photographer for KV Kortrijk and covering regional sports for Bart Vandenbroucke. The highlight at KV Kortrijk was winning the title in the second division with Hein Vanhaezebrouck, as well as reaching the cup final at the Heysel Stadium! The whole of Kortrijk was buzzing with excitement for the cup final.

In the qualification tournament of the Women's Under 17 held in our own country, the decisive match between Belgium and multiple-time world and European champions Germany was called off due to heavy snowfall. The match had to be rescheduled for a few weeks later and was played on the field of Tongeren instead of the large stadium of Racing Genk.
Since, at that time, the football association didn't believe in the chances of the young Red Flames, they didn't send anyone from their communication and media team to cover the match. We were there as the only photographer and celebrated the 0-0 result which secured qualification for the European Championship, at the expense of powerhouse Germany. The photo led to discussions about collaboration with the football association, resulting in a multi-year partnership.

The UEFA Women's Euro 2017 held in the Netherlands marked a significant moment for Belgium, as they competed in a European Championship for the first time ever. It was an emotional moment after all those years of following the Flames to finally see them on such a big stage! In Breda, against Norway, they scored and won for the first time in a European Championship match. This event also marked my first official collaboration with the football association and provided valuable international experience for Belga.
